The chicken's egg is a near perfect food for the Canid. Dog conditioners have utilized the egg for well over 100 years. The egg provides high quality protein @ a reasonable price. For those that feed raw flesh foods the egg is a good alternative to beef. Hard or soft boiled, scrambled, sunny side or raw, it is difficult to beat the hen's egg. |

We received a call from one of our dealers that Robert Abady passed away. During the nineteen eighties Mr. Abady proved to be some what of a maverick-visionary.
Mr. Abady was against industry uniformity & felt all other foods were inferior to the Abady product. This assertion is reflected in his treatise and other documents. To my knowledge Mr. Abady chose not to document his claims. In other words, zero foot notes, zero bibliographies, or any evidence, anecdotal or academic was ever provided.
To my knowledge the Abady product was not only different in content & texture but price as well. Perhaps the Abady product was the most expensive dry food in the history of our industry.
Robert was not boring. He definitely had a unique style that kept our industry on it's toes! Robert Abady the iconoclast, the corporate warrior & the merchant is gone. He will be missed! |

Yesterday Cesar had two TV segments that dealt with Castration. Cesar feels Castration is a panacea for Testicular Cancer & Prostate Cancer. Cesar also inferred that Castration would negate aggression issues.
I have not found Testicular or Prostate Cancers to be frequent in working dogs. In addition, Castration as a tool to stop behavioral issues works infrequently. Acquired or ritual behavior rarely responds to this type of surgery. Perhaps, in aggression cases Castration accompanied by a frontal lobotomy would be more curative; or perhaps consult a competent dog trainer & avoid surgery. |

About 5 years ago we decided to sell prong collars. For MK9, prongs were for many years an absolute last resort.
When a prong collar is properly fitted it is an impressive tool. To allay any concerns that this midevil (looking) appliance is cruel & painful put one snuggly around your bicep and make a correction. You will get nothing more than a pinch. Hence the name pinch collar. |

First & foremost, check your collar for weak points. O rings, D rings, buckles, fatigued leather or nylon. Check adjustment holes for egging or out of round wear. If the collar is leather, wipe it down and use a product similar to Neats Foot to treat the leather. If your collar is Nylon you can hand wash it or simply put it in a washing machine. |

Last evening I had a chat with the celebrated Rifle-Smith Dan Cowen. Dan & I have a dislike for Elliot Spitzer. In my view, he is a man with a predacious appearance & lofty arrogant personality. Spitzer reminds me of a character in a Buster Crab movie called Ming the merciless. Anyway the conversation switched to David Paterson. Dan felt David Paterson & Mrs. Paterson should have admitted to their affairs prior to the governor being sworn in. I did not agree! I felt Mr. Paterson handled the entire event with (uncommon) class & sincerity. |
