I recently concluded that a dog with a short muzzle may have excellent endurance. This is contrary to what most sport people believe. The frenchies or French Bull Dogs we have milled seem to have quick recovery time & impressive endurance. Why?.....My thoughts are (perhaps) a clear air way. A nice short rear palate, not blocking air into that well sprung chest appears to be the endurance solution.
The way I determine if a palate is too long & too soft is by working a dog & listening for a clicking sound. The norm is shorter muzzles produce pronounced clicking. The French Bull Dog is one of the exceptions to this belief.
The French-man's breathing, even when he pushes himself quite hard is not very audible. Saliva is minimal, the shape of the dog's tongue shows minimal swelling, with a body temperature averaging under 105 degrees fahrenheit, based on a 2 dog test. It is important to note our gym area averages an ambient temperature of approximately 50 degrees fahrenheit. (Based on 12 months) This makes for ideal milling. We discourage milling on sultry days.
We have only milled male French Bull Dogs. We have never milled or fed a French Bull Dog bitch. Many of the males we have milled are from eastern Europe, via pet shops & three were bred in the USA. The milling results appear uniform regardless of the dog's birth place or pedigree.

I have mentioned the topical application of Eclipta in previous writings. Several customer inquiries have been made, resulting in positive results.
Eclipta looks like Crab Grass. It is popular in India & China, where the plant grows as a perennial. However, in the United States the plant is harvested on an annual schedule.
Eclipta has several applications, it is said to be a tonic for the liver and has value against Arthritis etc. I can not confirm the validity of these claims. It should be noted, our use of Eclipta is limited to external use.
My initial experiences with Eclipta were mixed. It appears quality may vary. However, when the Eclipta is pure it darkens pigment, giving a dog a wonderful shine & pleasant smell. Eclipta, when applied daily may help to repel (some) insects and will help reverse seasonal dryness. |

MK9 is developing a new custom line of tread mills. This line will be called the "MAN OR BEAST MILLING SYSTEM". Some of the upgrade features are 16 inch rubber belts covered by heavy duty slats as opposed to two - four inch traditional belting. A unique elevation system will allow the angle of the mill to escalate as well as decline. A front braking system with a damper control will add strength in addition to the traditional endurance advantage a tread mill offers. The 16 inch rubber belt is easily removed for cleaning & maintenance.
For decoy work, the mill action will be extended several inches fore & aft creating a superior platform. This will enable the helper to target the bite more accurately, regardless of the direction of the dog's strike. The decoy will be able to do frontal & rear agitations with enhanced visibility. Changing of the dogs direction of attack will also add to the dog's total cardio.
MK9 will also rebuild existing mill actions. This would include belts, slats & hardware.... or simply trade up & get a more efficient mill !!! |

Ten million horses were killed during WW1.
Two facilities in Texas & one in Illinois are responsible for 90,000 slaughterd horses per year in the U.S, primarily for human consumption. In 1986 Ferdinand won the kentucky Derby. He was eventually shipped to Japan and served as food for human consumption. This information was furnished by Night Line. |

Three breeds have fallen under attack in the United States. They are the American Pit Bull Terrier and its variants, the German Shepherd Dog and the Rottweiler. This writing will take a detailed look at the Bully breeds and analyze two basic canine drives. We will compare these drives with the GSD, The Rottweiler and for the purpose of contrast with stock guardian breeds. |

I watched a portion of a TV show that dealt with the Peta organization. Two Peta employees arrive @ a man's home. They tell him they would like to inspect his dog. The dog is kept on a chain out doors. He is a young dog, thin but active, clean, alert and friendly. The inspectors examine the dog primarily by looking @ his gums. They diagnose Whip Worms, in addition to malnutrition. They offered to take the dog back to PETA and treat the dog free of any charge. Returning the dog as soon as he was well. The man appeared to be of modest means and lacking in confidence. He quietly agrees with the terms of the offer.
The dog submits eagerly to a truck ride. Snuggling up to one of the PETA employees. He searches for a comfortable shoulder to rest his big white noggin, he appears ready for a nap. Upon arriving @ PETA alleged blood work is completed. The owner of the dog is told his dog is dying and the humane thing would be to euthanitize the dog. The owner allegedly agrees. I write allegedly because I only heard the PETA side of the conversation The innocent dog is killed. I suspect his body is sold to a rendering facility.
It would appear the PETA Organization finds killing more convenient than healing. |

Mk9 deals with numerous trainers. Some enjoy Cesar's televion show, while others do not care for Cesar or his show. Some take issue with his methods as a trainer - behaviorist. After all, liking or disliking a person is part of human nature & human perception. We have been told more than once that 6 dogs were killed as a result of poor milling practices at Cesar's facility. I have watched Cesar mill dogs on what appears to be slow moving electric mills. You would really have to be extremely neglectful to kill 6 dogs on this type of appliance. Unless they died of bordom, I don't see how you can kill 6 reasonably healthy dogs by milling.
I decided to see what I could find out about the alleged legal issues Cesar was involved in. Upon googling Cesar Milan I found that he is being sued for the death of a black Lab. that may have perished in his facility. He is also involved in an intellectual property law suit. So far this is all the information I have found.
Cesar Milan is a celebrity who has garnerd a wonderful reputation. With his celebrity (which is often the case) may come scam artists, greedy opportunists, disgruntled employees etc.
At this juncture we feel rumor, minutia and accusations should be ignored. It would appear Cesar Milan has helped hundreds, perhaps thousands of dogs. It is this wonderful accomplishment I choose not to ignore. |
