In the book Canine Reproduction by Phyllis Holst D.V.M. page 154, an important chart is illustrated. This chart reflects the percentages of protein vs. fat in bitch's milk. The percent for protein is 9.5% and fat being 8.3%. A ratio which is nearly 1 to 1. Available on our site is an independent lab report done by Midwestern Laboratories Inc. Our Protein is 23.2%, our fat is 22%. It is both interesting & important to note how close the ratio is in our dry food to the ratio in a bitch's milk. In part this may explain why our food has worked so well with puppies.
If one were to study a typical value report done on our product by Woodson-Tenent Labs, we would find a very similar % differential between protein and fat. Report # 0147042 reflects fat at 22.47% vs. Protein of 23.03 % for a difference of .56% or slightly over one half of a percent. This knowledge suggests how close our dry matter food is to the natural percentages of bitch's milk (within about 1%). We have always known our food to be a fine preadolescent diet. These statistics may prove why!!! |
