We received a call from one of our dealers that Robert Abady passed away. During the nineteen eighties Mr. Abady proved to be some what of a maverick-visionary. Mr. Abady was against industry uniformity & felt all other foods were inferior to the Abady product. This assertion is reflected in his treatise and other documents. To my knowledge Mr. Abady chose not to document his claims. In other words, zero foot notes, zero bibliographies, or any evidence, anecdotal or academic was ever provided. To my knowledge the Abady product was not only different in content & texture but price as well. Perhaps the Abady product was the most expensive dry food in the history of our industry. Robert was not boring. He definitely had a unique style that kept our industry on it's toes! Robert Abady the iconoclast, the corporate warrior & the merchant is gone. He will be missed! |
