The GSD is one of the primary police dogs as is the Malinois. However, one should not think that Luis Dobermann developed a second rate dog. In my view, what makes a dog great is the attraction of energetic & smart people. In other words, the right crowd! Around 1955 a show lines dog called Rancho Dobie Storm had the world spinning. Storm won at Westminster and the Doberman Piincher became an in vogue, elegant show dog. The serious working dogs became fewer in number.Whether a Doberman, an American Bull Dog or the Standard Poodle, the right crowd always improves breed function. In the case of the Dobie it was the converse. However, recently we have seen a considerable improvement in the Doberman Pincher as a result of European imports. The paragraph you are about to read is not about determining what is indecorous, immoral, fair or unfair. It is about fact. It took 350 years to create one of the most athletic animals on earth. The American Pit Bull Terrier. This happend as a result of harsh utilities, but more importantly the breed attracted people that had the genetic accumen to make a super dog. Their energy & genetic know how prevailed. The Bully Breed's blood is frequently used in the improvement of existing breeds & the formation of new breeds. Many breeds under perform at specific utilities This is because talentless people are in control. If you took skilled Ring Sport competitors and gave them Dobies to exclusively breed & work, the end result (perhaps) would prove my point. When you see breeds that fail at sport or are sickly with poor longevity, look @ the people in that breed. Sadly, they are the problem. One of my earlier quotes is "Genetics Always Eclipses Nutrition." However, I would like to augment the original quote by stating, "Talent eclipses everything!" |
