Most dog owners tend not to push their dogs in hot, Summer weather. Now that the fall is upon us we look forward to cooler weather & greater out door challenges. What follows may save a dog from injury or even death. Many of us gently hose our dogs down after a run or exercise has been completed. A safe guard would be to hose your down before the run as well as after the run is completed. Many dogs prefer the hose be kept close to their body as opposed to being sprayed from a distance. Either approach will frequently stimulate dogs into working harder & safe guards against heat exhaustion. Do not underestimate Autumn temperatures. Don't forget to check your dogs pads for cuts and tears before running. MK9 has a wax formulation that works quite well & lasts forever. If you are on a budget most drugists sell Tincture Of Benzoine, this will also work. I like to mix dark local Honey with apple cider vinegar as a pre run boost. Dogs seem to do well on this combination. Remember to stop at set intervals to rehydrate your dog. Keep it fun!!!
