Bob Melville, a houndsman from up state NY, runs Black Bear, with a variety of hounds. Recently, Bob acquired a Walker puppy. Bob called me to let me know the pups Carpal Joint was deformed. Rickets came to mind. I sent Bob some product that I have used in the past. In the interim, Bob called the breeder. The breeder said he knew nothing about this malady but would replace the puppy. The breeder suggested that the kindest thing would be to euthanize the pup. Bob had already received our product & decided to try our (rather simple) Rickets vitamin/mineral protocol.However, by this time both Carpal Joints were bowed.

Mr. Melville called me this morning. He informed me the dogs joints were no longer bent. All I can say is with out seeing the dog, I (certainly) shot from the hip & was lucky. Even if I saw the dog, I couldn't be absolutely sure it was Rickets. Divine intervention? Before the wonderful premixes in many dry matter dog foods, Rickets were a frequent problem. We will keep supplementing the pup for the next 7 to 10 days. This time period should be adequate to strengthen the pup's bone bank. I often keep before & after photos (in our office) of pups with this condition.
