Last night the French Bull Dog was featured on Animal Planet. The first bit of info I took issue with is the notion that the frenchie had terrier in it's background. Why not make a full disclosure & say Stafford or Bull & Terrier etc? Perhaps a classic case of PBP or Pit Bull Phobia? They also acted as if the breed was a total clutz. Is Klutz spelled with a C or a K? Anyway, I have been impressed with the motor skills & endurance of these hearty little fellows.
Sadly, the issue of reproduction is a significant negative in the
Frenchie. Proper dog people would never allow this lack of breeding
accumen to prevail. Yet it does prevail! However, the Frenchie's sweet
mug & sociable grunts continue to put a smile on my face. In my
view, when drawn to a proper body weight, the Frenchies are driven
& athletic. We have milled our share of Frenchies & they love
to run ! However, do not mill any dog on hot, sultry days! The short
headed breeds like Frenchies are at greater risk. |
