I have had the misfortune to witness dogs that normally demonstrated exemplary personalities become aggressive and dangerous. Utility dogs demonstrating this type of anti-social behavior are often times shot immediately. The Owners feel this is the responsible proper thing to do.Alfred J. Plechner, D.V.M. writes in his book, Pet Allergies, that this problem may be caused by a cortisol Iga imbalance. In other words - caused by a hormone imbalance. Plechner writes this imbalance is treatable. As for the hunters and other hard core utility breeders this diagnosis is academic and changes nothing. This type of (parochial) thinking is based on a genetic rather than emotional and/or clinical point of view.
