The Bull Elk during the rut (breeding season) battles all comers for the privilege to mate with multiple cows. After defeating all challengers, he will devote his remaining energy to servicing females. Most bulls, like most good stud dogs, will not eat or rest when breeding opportunities arise. Without the proper rest and caloric intake, the bull weakens and may not survive the on-coming winter. The vigor or genetic vitality of his offspring is guaranteed by the physical superiority of the one breeding bull. The continuity of this process insures herd vitality.

Nature has been whispering her dictum to breeders of livestock since earliest man. First, we enslave the dog and then, adding insult to injury, we weaken the species by practicing irresponsible livestock husbandry.

Feed them well...Test them hard.
