The African Cheetah can turn on a dime, reach speeds of 60 miles per hour in under four seconds and has been (historically) domesticated. The one major drawback with this extraordinary hunter is poor rate of recovery. Possibly, the lack of fat storage is part of the Endurance problem.Approximately eight years ago, I began to envision a Cheetah x Lurcher or StagHound cross. MADNESS, you think!
Possibly, but not as far as I am concerned...PONDER THESE FACTS, OUT OF ALL THE FELINES THE CHEETAH IS CLOSEST TO THE CANIS FAMILIARUS. Within the canis family a structural similarity with the Greyhound is clearly visible. Interestingly, the Greyhound like the Cheetah is lacking in the area of endurance. That is precisely why I would rather cross to a high/bred like a Lurcher or Stag Hound, as these two considerations should keep most of the velocity and at the same time be able to run all day long. Both the Lurcher and StagHound are products of (high) percentages of Greyhound blood. With the advancement of genetic engineering, trans-species breedings will be possible. Consider the vigor...Consider the speed...Consider the endless quality of life opportunities! |
