Nearly two decades ago, Sports Illustrated maligned The American Pit Bull Terrier. The magazine's vivid cover page & detailed misinformation was the straw that broke the Camel's hump. So deleterious was their article, thousands of bully breeds were surrenderd to animal hospitals & shelters for euthanasia. Several months ago, Sports Illustrated repaired some of the destruction done decades earlier. Please find the December 29, 2008 issue. "The article is a (well needed) breath of fresh air." For more (positive) information on the subject of dog bites, speak to a Veterinarian. Most Veterinarians would prefer handling a bully breed BECAUSE THEY ARE NEEDY & CRAVE HUMAN CONTACT. Also the book Fatal Dog Attacks, by Karen Delise, is a good read. One last thought, if you want to acquire one of the Bully Breeds, resue one from your local shelter! "You will be blessed". |
